Liverpool - Bek veteran Liverpool, Jamie Carragher menerima bahwa dirinya tak lagi jadi pilihan utama di tim. Namun, Carra akan siap memaksimalkan setiap kesempatan bermain yang diberikan.
Seiring dengan usianya yang semakin menua, Carragher belakangan ini lebih sering minggir ke bangku cadangan. Ia kalah bersaing dengan Daniel Agger dan Martin Skrtel dalam mengawal barisan pertahanan 'Si Merah'.
Situasi demikian rupanya bukan menjadi masalah buat Carragher. Soalnya, Liverpool berhasil mencetak lima cleansheet dalam sembilan pertandingan terakhirnya.
"Tidak terlalu sulit menyesuaikan diri menjadi seorang pemain pengganti," ungkap bek berusia 33 tahun ini di Mirror Football. "Para pemain tampil bagus. Tentu saja Anda ingin bermain - dan manajer tidak akan mengharapkan yang lain lagi."
"Tapi aku telah bermain selama bertahun-tahun dan tampil bagus, orang lain telah berada di bench untukku. Peran-peran itu berbalik sekarang dan Anda harus menunjukkan respek kepada manajer, klub dan pemain yang mengisi posisiku. Aku menghargai ini."
"Klub sudah melakukan banyak hal untukku selama ini dan aku tidak akan berkata apapun atau menimbulkan masalah karena aku tidak bermain. Anda harus profesional dan menunggu kesempatan Anda. Ketika itu datang, Anda harus bisa memaksimalkannya," tukas mantan bek timnas Inggris itu.
Carragher baru tampil sebanyak 16 kali di seluruh kompetisi yang diikuti Liverpool pada musim ini. Sementara di Liga Inggris, Carra baru bermain 11 kali.

Dalglish Tak Mau Salahkan Reina
Manchester - Pepe Reina melakukan blunder yang membuat Liverpool kebobolan dalam laga kontra Manchester City. Meski demikian, manajer Kenny Dalglish tak mau menyalahkan kiper asal Spanyol itu.
Di Etihad Stadium, Rabu (4/1/2012) dinihari WIB, Reina ikut andil dalam terciptanya gol pertama yang dibuat City yang dibuat oleh Sergio Aguero. Dia tak bisa menghentikan bola hasil sepakan Aguero yang sebenarnya ada dalam jangkauannya. Si kulit bundar pun menerobos ke dalam gawang lewat bawah badannya.
Dalglish tak mau mengkritik Reina atas kesalahan tersebut. Menurutnya, semua pemain pernah membuat kesalahan.
"Kami tidak akan bersikap kritis kepada siapa pun," ucap Dalglish di Sky Sports.
"Tidak ada pemain yang pernah bermain dan tidak membuat kesalahan. Itulah yang terpenting," tambahnya.
"Bolanya menukik dengan hebat, tapi saya pikir itu merangkum semua yang terjadi pada malam ini," ujar pria berkebangsaan Skotlandia ini.
"Saya pikir ada banyak kesalahan yang dibuat oleh banyak pemain kami. Sayangnya, ketika kiper membuat satu kesalahan, tak ada banyak perbaikan dari itu," simpulnya.

2011 yang Fantastis Buat Van Persie
Satu gol yang dicetaknya ke gawang Queens Park Rangers tadi malam (31/12) -- Arsenal menang 1-0 -- memantapkan posisi Van Persie sebagai top skorer sementara Liga Inggris dengan 17 gol.
Angka itu sangat tinggi buat dia, karena sejak berbaju The Gunners di tahun 2004, paling banyak ia membukukan 18 gol dalam satu musim liga, yakni di musim lalu.
Jika dihitung sepanjang tahun 2011, pria 27 tahun itu mengoleksi 35 gol, tertinggi dalam sejarah Arsenal, mengalahkan rekor 34 gol Thierry Henry, yang akan segera bermain lagi untuk Arsenal dengan status pinjaman dari New York Red Bulls.
Sebuah "kekecewaan" buat Van Persie adalah, dia tidak sampai melewati rekor Alan Shearer, yang mendulang 36 gol di sepanjang tahun 1995 bersama Blackburn Rovers.
"Dia bisa (mengulang ledakan golnya di tahun 2012), karena dia sedang di usia yang tepat untuk perform," imbuh manajer Arsene Wenger tentang ketajaman anak asuhnya itu, seperti dikutip dari situs resmi Arsenal.

Justin Bieber adu Skill dengan Torres dan Lampard
London - Ternyata Justin Bieber juga punya bakat sepakbola yang sangat baik. Dalam kesempatan mengunjungi Stamford Bridge, super star asal Kanada itu unjuk kebolehan di depan Fernando Torres dan Frank Lampard.
Seperti diberitakan Dailymail, Bieber datang mengunjungi Stamford Bridge lengkap menggunakan seragam Chelsea berwarna biru. Dia ditemani aktor sekaligus presenter televisi dan DJ asal Inggris, Reginald 'Reggie' Yates.
Penyanyi remaja pencetak hits 'Baby, Baby', 'Never Say Never' dan 'One Time' itu kemudian bertemu dengan dua pemain The Blues, Frank Lampard dan Fernando Torres. Di depan dua bintang lapangan hijau tersebut Bieber tak memamerkan kemampuan vokalnya, dia malah unjuk kebolehan mengolah si kulit bundar.
Bieber ternyata mampu mengimbangi aksi juggling Torres dan Lampard dengan membuat beberapa aksi akrobatik. Dalam sebuah kesempatan simulasi adu penalti, Bieber dengan sangat meyakinkan mencetak gol ke gawang Lampard, yang dibuatnya tak bergerak di bawah mistar.
Super star berusia 17 tahun itu sempat mengaku kalau dirinya merupakan fanatik sepakbola. Di awal musim ini dia pernah terlihat mendukung Barcelona dengan bermain-main di jalanan kota Barcelona.
Kunjungan Bieber ke Stamford Bridge berakhir dengan dia mendatangi ruang ganti pemain Chelsea. Dan ternyata skuad The Blues yang nge-fans pada Bieber. Itu diketahui dengan tersimpannya lagu Bieber pada pemutar compact disk yang terletak di ruang ganti.
